Justin Hern, a Chef who once lived at The Woolpack awoke one night only to witness a grey figure run past the foot of his bed into the doorway. Still shaking with terror the Chef contacted a local Medium and a Paranormal expert to investigate. When investigating she came across the phantom itself and described it as grey, ashen in colour and it seemed to be scurrying along the wall like a spider, she was terrified.

Following further investigation it was discovered that Justin's bedroom was situated next to a Priest Hole, which led people to believe the phantom is that of a past Inn Keeper known as George. The Medium sensed that there was a connection between George, was helping the Monk remain hidden when he himself was killed. The Medium also saw a Sailor who was looking for a lady called Mary.

The most active of spirits though is that of the Admiral Vernon who was nicknamed Grog after his legislation on the watering down of rum on Navy Ships. That didn't go down well with the Sailors and as a result he was the target of hate by generations of sailors. Admiral Vernon's spirit has been seen wearing 18th Century Naval Officer Uniform. Locals who laughed off the sighting and thought it a hoax were to witness an act of anger from the Admiral, as he would rip a sign off the pub wall.
